At Emmanuel a lot of the daily chores and activities done with the kids are performed by our short and long term volunteers. We
receive both male and female volunteers in all ages.
Usually a volunteer will be assigned specific tasks according to needs at Emmanuel and skills of volunteer, although many volunteers carry out a variey of activities while being here.
the most common areas where we use our volunteers are:
- Early childhood stimulation ( ages 2 - 5 )
- Children with mental and behavioural problems
- Clinic and medicine supervision.
- Farm and Green house chores
- Sports, crafts, music and recreational activities with the children.
- Maintenance and Odd jobs.
- The school
It is the volunteer coordinator who in cooperation with each volunteer will decide on their individual activities and we are open to suggestions from volunteers with a specific skill they would like to share with the children while being here.
Internships
Emmanuel is open to students applying to do their internship here at the home. If you are considering to go abroad and work with children or another relevant work area as part of your studies, then contact our Volunteer Coordinator for more information.
Emmanuel expects that you
- have a servants heart
- give time - it takes at least a month to settle in
- are obedient and accept that you will be working under authority
- are flexible as one day is rarely like the other at Emmanuel
- take initiative, do not hide in your house, come out and make yourself available
