Emmanuel Youth Volunteers
When our youth turn 18 years old they are no longer legally under protection. The Honduran law states that they are adult citizens with the right to make their own decisions and also responsable for their own actions.
At this point in their young lives however many of these young people are not yet ready to start on their own and they may not have finished their secondary studies or vocational training yet.
Emmanuel has become their home and just like any other youth most of them need the love and support from their familiy to make decisions for their future and to get started.
We offer all the children who have turned 18 years to stay here under the same conditions as the younger children. They may continue their studies or vocational training and they live in the children's homes. They will additionally be given an area of responsability according to their capacities, awarded with a monthly allowance, as they will also be expected to help in the supervision of the younger children.
This gives them an opportunity to mature and grow individually and spiritually as they prepare themselves and it also teaches them about giving back to the Lord and their younger Emmanuel 'siblings' and be a blessing just as they have been blessed here. It is also a time where we can help them discover talents and capacities and guide and help them with their plans for the future.
We call these young people 'Emmanuel Youth Volunteers'
